As VvAA, we have a duty and responsibility

VvAA is a financial service provider that has been supporting medical professionals since 1924. The organization offers a wide range of services, including insurance and financial advice, specifically tailored to healthcare providers.
Secure File Sharing Client Case VvAA

In our customer case we have interviewed VvAA, a long and loyal customer of Msafe Secure File Sharing.

“As VvAA, we have a duty and responsibility to ensure that files are shared securely and that our clients and partners have a safe way to provide their documents.”

VvAA is a financial service provider that has been supporting medical professionals since 1924. The organization offers a wide range of services, including insurance and financial advice, specifically tailored to healthcare providers.

Exactly the dedicated secure file sharing service they were looking for.

Because VvAA works extensively with sensitive data, secure handling of this information is essential. Before adopting Msafe, VvAA relied on an internally developed solution for secure file exchange. However, they decided to transition to Msafe, which proved to be exactly the dedicated secure file-sharing service they were looking for.

“VvAA uses Msafe as an ad-hoc secure transfer tool for sensitive information. Over the past five years, awareness around data protection and cybersecurity has grown significantly, Paul notes: This shift has made it easier to adopt a product like Msafe. People have become more security-conscious and don’t mind taking an extra step, such as entering a 2FA code, as long as their files are safe.”
Paul van der Berg, Security Officer, VvAA Groep B.V.

Msafe is not only highly secure but also user-friendly.

VvAA chose to integrate Msafe with Single Sign-On (SSO), enabling employees to log in seamlessly using their existing credentials. Additionally, the platform was customized in VvAA’s corporate branding, making it immediately clear to recipients that shared files are coming directly from VvAA.

Jan Machiel Dalebout adds:
“Today, any file-sharing solution must be secure. But to ensure broad adoption, it must also be user-friendly.

VvAA chose Msafe because it is easy to use – but above all, because it is secure.”
Jan Machiel Dalebout, Manager Information Management, VvAA Groep B.V.

VvAA operates its own customer portal where clients can log in and upload files. Msafe complements this setup by covering scenarios where the portal cannot be used. For example, in mortgage advisory services, Msafe is deployed to exchange sensitive documents. It also serves as an ad-hoc and secure transfer solution for critical interactions with auditors, banks, law firms, and suppliers.

Security awareness training makes secure file sharing truly compliant

Files are still shared by people. And that’s precisely where risk arises. An employee who clicks on a phishing email, shares a document with the wrong recipient, leaves overly broad permissions, or works outside the secure channel because it seems faster, can put pressure on even the best-equipped environment. That’s why secure file sharing, security awareness and compliance training belong together.

Complexity Kills Compliance

Compliance rarely goes wrong because organizations don’t have policies. It goes wrong because policies become too complicated in practice. Once employees have to deal with cumbersome processes, extra steps, loose portals and unclear exceptions, they look for a faster route. And that’s exactly where the problem begins. What seems secure and compliant on paper quickly turns into shadow IT, workarounds and invisible risks in daily operations.

How do companies comply with GDPR guidelines? And why secure file transfer is essential in this

To comply with GDPR guidelines, a privacy statement or secure tool is not enough. Companies must process personal data lawfully, respect privacy rights, take appropriate security measures, manage data breaches and be able to demonstrate that they have their processes in order. The Personal Data Authority lists foundations, privacy rights, security, DPIAs in high-risk situations and accountability among the core components of AVG compliance.
