Share files securely without the need for an account or password

Msafe, a specialist in secure file transfer solutions, is introducing a new feature in version 2.3: Easy Download. Thanks to this enhancement, recipients can download files without first having to create an account or set a password.

This makes sharing files securely even easier. At the same time, it maintains the security that Msafe is known for.

Safe sharing without additional barriers

For many organizations, sharing files securely is a daily challenge. On the one hand, the process must be secure and traceable. On the other hand, organizations want to make it as easy as possible for their customers, suppliers, and partners.

With Easy Download, the recipient no longer needs to create an account. Instead, they receive an email with a secure download link. After a one-time verification using a phone number, the recipient gains immediate access to the download page.

Files can be downloaded individually or all at once as a ZIP file. If new files are added to the same share later, the user will automatically receive an email notification.

Ease of use without compromising security

“With Easy Download, we make it just as easy for organizations to receive files securely as it is to send them,” says Thijs van der Linden, COO of Msafe.

“Recipients no longer need to create an account or remember a password. At the same time, verification, logging, and monitoring remain fully intact. This allows us to lower the barrier to entry for recipients without compromising security.”

Full Control for Organizations

Easy Download is entirely optional. Organizations decide for themselves whether they want to enable this feature.

After activation , users can also choose for each shared folder whether an external recipient will be given an account or will use Easy Download. This ensures maximum flexibility.

Existing users, workflows, and shares will remain unchanged. Easy Download is an additional feature within Msafe Secure File Transfer.

Available starting July 22, 2026

Easy Download is part of Msafe Secure File Transfer version 2.3 and will be available to all Msafe customers starting July 22, 2026.

With this new feature, Msafe makes secure file sharing more accessible than ever, without compromising security, control, or compliance.

The Cybersecurity Act is the Dutch implementation of the European NIS2 Directive, while the Critical Entities Resilience Act governs the physical and operational resilience of critical sectors. Together, they entail mandatory security measures, incident reporting, oversight by designated authorities, and a registration requirement. Organizations subject to the law must strengthen, document, and demonstrate their digital and physical security processes.

Why Secure File Sharing Is Only Truly Secure with Security Awareness Training

Security awareness training ensures that secure file sharing is truly compliant

Files are still shared by people. And that’s exactly where the risk lies. An employee who clicks on a phishing email, shares a document with the wrong recipient, leaves permissions too broad, or works outside the secure channel because it seems faster can put even the best-secured environment under strain. That’s why secure file sharing, security awareness, and compliance training go hand in hand.

Complexity Undermines Compliance

Compliance rarely goes wrong because organizations lack policies. It goes wrong because policies become too complicated in practice. As soon as employees have to deal with cumbersome processes, extra steps, separate portals, and unclear exceptions, they look for a faster way. And that’s exactly where the problem begins. What seems safe and compliant on paper quickly turns into shadow IT, workarounds, and hidden risks in day-to-day operations.
